I was only fifteen days old when I was taken away from my mother and given to my humans. Initially, I would miss my mother so much that I’d cry in the night. I was the size of a small cotton fluff ball, and so when I’d weep, my human would scoop me up in her hands and spend all night cuddling with me so I’d feel a breathing presence beside me and sleep.
I was fed cerelac with fingers until I could eat myself. Slowly I started growing and realizing that this was my new family. I had to protect them as they protected me. At first, the barks would sound like little meows. Eventually, I started getting the hang of it and I could easily scare off strangers.
People are not always nice to me. Some of them throw stones at me when I’m on the porch minding my own business, and some of them make sounds and try to intimidate me. When I’m out on walks, many people get scared and start screaming which I mistake for playful shrieks, and then I try to play with them. However, most of the other people in the neighborhood are nice to me and compliment me. One of them even asked my human for my hair care routine and that was the best compliment I got.
For those of you who are wondering what my hair care routine is, I don’t have one. I’m bathed (which I despise) in normal shampoo for human hair, and I have a special kind of hair comb, which I don’t let my human run through my hair, because I believe the comb belongs in my mouth, and not in her hand or on my hair.
Most dogs like me love bathing. I’m not a big fan though. I’ll just try and bite at the water coming out of the hose, and then get super mad at my human for cleaning me up.
However, after I’m all bathed and clean, that’s my favorite time of the day! I love to run to the garden and run around and roll over in the grass, letting the grass blades scratch and tickle me! I also LOVE rubbing my ears and face in the grass. I don’t mind digging holes in the garden either but I’m a good girl who listens to her human (occasionally).
