Pet Diaries: Berry (Entry 4)

One day I was taking a walk outside with my younger human. My humans were having a birthday celebration, and she decided to give me a walk before the guests started piling in. I usually like running a lot, but since I’m on a leash (no, not those bloody retractable ones) I make sure I don’t run too fast as to cause my human to fall or trip.

That day I saw a beautiful, white cat. I immediately wanted to play with it. My human also saw the cat and she realized I’m going to run after it. She tightened grasp on my leash and although she tried her best to stay steady, my excitement topped it all. I ran, tripped her over and dragged her through the pavement, all the way to where the cat was just to notice that the cat had disappeared…. And my human was on the pavement… badly hurt.

In my defense! I did lick her bleeding knees, because I believe my saliva will magically cure her of the pain. But she started crying very badly and I realized what I had done. I regretted it for days and even apologized to her.

She did go through a rough time, but there are no wounds anymore so I think she doesn’t care. She loves me just as much. And so do I.

(A note from Berry’s human: A week and a half ago, Berry gave birth to seven very healthy puppies. Unfortunately, six of them couldn’t survive. We had no idea what was happening at first, as they all passed away in a week’s time, but later on we deduced that they had gotten a heatstroke. During this very painful time period, I had to make sure to be there for Berry’s emotional support and took two weeks off from writing. Now that Berry’s a lot better with her one miracle baby, I decided to resume writing. Apologies.)
