And one day, it all stopped.
Came to a pause. Time froze. Everything came to a standstill. Nothing moved, Nothing stayed. Just them. All alone, in different parts of the world, unfrozen among the frozen, able to move, able to touch, able to take a moment to breathe.
Step away, they could step away, forget the responsibilities, forget the people, forget everything holding them down, They could take a deep breath and...feel.
For once, they could feel. They could take a pause, take a moment from themself.
And, in that small bout of selfishness, hoped the world would not resume. Hoped that the world would stay on pause.
Stay on pause as they rushed through the streets, as they jumped into the puddles,as they stole the ice cream and food from the vendors , as they keyed the cars, as they laughed.
It was their world, just them. Nothing they had to give away, nothing they had to tear apart to satisfy others, Just them, just their happiness, a little moment of freedom, a little bit of fresh air, a little bit of knowing, knowing what it’s like to have an escape, an escape from the pain and the hurt.
A little bit of knowing the need for change.
How to change.
Because, it’s not always all bad. To free yourself, to give yourself a moment to breathe, to step away, to change a little to bring it about. The small taste, so addicting, how could they forget it? How could they not chase it?
And when the world began to play again, and when life began to reset itself and the noise all suddenly turned on, they thought, thought of those moments.
Thought...that they want it back.
But life would not pause again. But it isn’t the only way. There are other ways. Sometimes you need to search and look deeply but...it is there.
(At least, we can hope)
(At least, in moments, when it all becomes too much, too heavy to bear, we can step aside, turn it all away and take a moment for ourselves (No matter how long) to regain the small semblance of peace, it’s what we all deserve.)
