Close your eyes and listen
To the blood thrumming in your veins
The soft puff of breath after every exhale
Feel each caress of the fluttering lashes on
your cheekbones
The drumming of the heart
Which keeps pace with every emotion
Sometimes as fast as the Coruh river
Sometimes in a slow languorous manner
Their complexities still so foreign to it
Listen to the whispered secrets of the wind
As it serenades you with their gentle music
Taste the coolness of the fallen raindrops
Revel in the dewy petrichor it leaves behind
Savor the flushed warmth of your skin
In winter or after a particularly passionate
discussion
The exuberant vitality in your eyes
When you were wonderstruck over something
beautiful
Or animated over the most ordinary of things
All these overwhelming sensations
Blast with renewed fervor each time
Reminding how they are a blessing
Not a given right to everybody
Prompting us to understand the true definition
of being alive
