As winters are approaching, the reported cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan are increasing by tenfold in what is being called the second wave now. The corona related mortalities have also been increasing significantly.

There are many reasons for this. Some suspect that it’s due to the increasing cold which causes the virus to be more active than before. However, it is mostly due to the lack of responsibility by the citizens and the government and its opposition. SOPs have been abandoned despite it being compulsory to follow them. As seen in many government offices, including schools, colleges, shops etc., SOPs are not being properly followed which has resulted in the influx of COVID cases. At a time like this where politicians should come together to try to flatten the COVID curve as much as possible, opposition is seen trying to hold rallies against the government. How can we ask people to take this seriously when the authorities are acting like this? Unless the government and the authorities take proper measures, people will remain unserious.

The second wave of corona is considered more serious and deadly by the World Health Organization(WHO). It has warned people to take stricter precautions.

After a seemingly significant reduction in the spread of Coronavirus in the country, the government had lifted the ban on social and business activities and tourism, as well as social and educational activities. But the lifting of sanctions across the country, is generally taken to mean that there is no longer any threat from Coronavirus, while the fact is that without social restrictions, the risk is many times greater than before and does not maintain social distance and individuals as a result of not taking steps to keep oneself free of the virus, it will not be possible to prevent the pandemic from spreading again.
