Self-love is essential to living well. It has an impact on who you pick for a friend, the image you exude at work, and how you cope with the problems in your life. It is so important to your well being therefore it is vital to know about how to implement self-love. We all have our own ways of loving ourselves. Self-love is not doing a makeover or buying new clothes although they do make you feel good, you cant grow in self-love through these actions.

Self-love is not about feeling good. You can feel good through many methods by distracting yourself through unnecessary and wrong means. Self-love is when you appreciate yourself, you celebrate yourself and you do what is right for yourself, making the right decisions for yourself. It is being your own best friend. It lets us see our worth, that already existed and doesn't let us belittle ourselves but be appreciative of ourselves more. Bear in mind, self-love takes consistent practice just like it takes time to grow muscles when you go to the gym. So you have to be patient with your growth. Here are some tips on implementing self-love:

1. Make room for healthy habits:

Healthy habits like going to the gym or taking a walk or eating right and doing things on time too (because as well know, procrastination is the thief of time) so it’s better to utilize your time properly and get work done on time. It shouldn't feel like a burden doing the work like you “have to” do it. Maybe whatever you are doing fun, be consistent, and eventually it will turn into a habit.

2. Don’t compare yourself to anyone on social media and in real life:

Comparing yourself to someone, as someone said, is a rat race for losers because the person you are comparing yourself to is comparing themselves to someone else and that someone else might be comparing themselves to someone else and so on. It’s a vicious cycle. Everyone has a different background, way of living, and so on. Comparing yourself doesn't fix anything and it also makes you feel even worse. You have to accept and appreciate what you have even though it may be hard. Every time you compare yourself, you always end up the loser. The things you see on social media are often not true due to heavy filters, editing, etc. And behind the scenes of the life people live may hold a miserable reality.

3. Letting go:

Holding onto our past is a massive massive burden. It has no use because it just feels like a big bag of rocks on our back and prevents us from moving forward, on loving ourselves and a new past. If you want to heal trauma, therapy will be needed. And doing what is right for you is self-love even though you don’t want to do it. There is no other direction in life other than moving forward. So this journey should be filled with beauty. The world could be terrible to you but you could be kind to yourself. And that goodness to yourself will feel like way more than enough.
