The Last Tribute

Open your eyes, Look around, Do you see the silence? The silence you caused? Do you see the pain? The pain you caused?

Oh turn around, look around, Do you see your hypocrisy, love? it’s boiling over, overrunning the pots and streets, years of hard work, all gone, it disappeared. Oh love, wake up and see, the entitlement riddling you with pain, the entitlement that just won’t go away, oh love, the entitlement you refuse to see.

(It’s in you)

(Open your eyes and see)

The world overflows with pain and fear, the world drowns in suffering and loneliness, this world is not yours, this world is everyone’s.

Oh love, wake up and see.

You’re not all alone in this world, You’re not the only one in this world.

This world does not revolve around you, The world is not the one spinning you around. You twirl, but it is not the world gripping your hand, you fall, but the world does not catch you.

Someone catches you.

(Or you catch yourself)

A single lonesome thing, left not so lonesome. The world can be a friend (Not everything). She can help (But not fix everything). She can stay (But not every day). You push her away (She runs away). You show her anger (How can you say it’s fair?).

She is undeserving of the pain you inflict, or the misplaced feelings of resentment you throw at her. The world deserves better, love. How can you expect her to stay?

This unbridled rage seeping out of your soul, the unbridled rage you throw around like darts, does the world deserve this pain? Doesn’t she deserve a little better? How can you break her soul, her spirit, little by little, into pieces of puzzles, then smile and forget? The world does not forget, she remembers, but the kindness burning inside her forgives. And so it begins again.

There has to be a little change, my love.

(Not in the world)

(In you)
