Generation z has continuously been proving themself to be the most innovative and creative one so far. With their brand new ideas, zeal, and a drive to better the world, they have started the process of sowing the seeds for a new and much more sustainable future.
Time and time again, the youth is seen actively participating in many revolutionary movements. They took over the twitter trends and flooded the app with various petitions, and donation links during the protests held worldwide after the death of George Floyd. Additionally, the younger generation is more empathetic as compared to the others, which is prominent in their engagement with each other for the ongoing Yemen crisis. Perhaps the most jaw-dropping and eye-opening for the remaining world is how the unemployed youth has been working to counter the various socio-economic problems bought in by the pandemic.
Along with providing the essential comic relief during this god awful time, the younger generation has shown their compassion through their small deeds of kindness. Various relief funds, non-profit organizations, and public health promotions are just a tiny part of what the youth has been up to these days. Hence, youth engagement is vital for global action. Due to there being more young people than ever before, the involvement of the younger generation in decision-making processes is sure to bring forth a change that no one has anticipated. This upgrade is because they have more to offer in terms of innovative ideas and can analyze situations in a way that is far beyond what the older generation can comprehend.
Since all current actions will, one way or another, dictate the flow of the future, encouraging the younger generation to partake in politics is the best course of action to flip the tide of the vulnerable situation that we all are currently facing. History bears witness to the fact that student unions can give unsatisfactory governments a tough time, which is noticeable in the way student activism has shaped the Australian government. The idea of the importance of youth involvement in various social and political matters is further reaffirmed by the historic resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security(YPS), where the UNSCR 2250 recognized the significance of contributions of the youth towards maintaining and promoting peace and security.
If provided with the proper skills and opportunities, the youth can be a powerful and much-needed force for development. Their involvement in global action to tackle various challenges can help reduce the uncertainty in a post-pandemic world, and that is what we precisely need.
