A court of thorns and roses is a gripping novel written by Sarah J. Mass. The series comprises of three books, all of them compelling and narrated skillfully. ACOTAR is a fiction novel that is based on fantasy and magic with humans and mystical creatures living the story.

The main character of the story is a mundane girl who goes by the name of Feyre(pronounced: Fay-ruh) and lives with her sisters and her father in a secluded village. She belonged to a wealthy family whose business took a misfortunate turn and left them in a ragged, worn-out, cottage in a distant village. The setting of the story is much like our planet, but that planet has been divided into two sections; the mortal land and the mystical land which goes by the name of Prythian.

An enchanting aspect of this story is that Prythian is divided into seven courts, each of which is named after seasons and varying parts of the day like night, day, dawn, and dusk. This allows the writer to paint a beautiful yet unique image of each court in accordance with its respective theme.

Additionally, each court has been assigned a high lord who possesses powers similar to their court’s theme. Through this idea, the writer has created beautiful variations in every character which gives depth and meaning to the story. Feyre is kidnapped by one of these high lords and is taken to Prythian due to a rule of law drafted between the two lands as they do not share a friendly past.

Hence, this novel is a perfect combination of fantasy, romance, and action which has been further amplified through life-like characters with personalities that will take your heart away. A perfect example is Rhysand who appears in the middle of the book. He is one of the main characters who has a charming personality with a witty sense of humor.

This book is a great read for fantasy admirers although it may appear a bit unrealistic to readers who prefer to read books based on currents issues or have a taste for realistic matters.
