Are you planning on achieving a summer body in quarantine? If yes, here are 3 weight loss diet plans for the most efficient change you can achieve!

When losing weight, it is important to keep in mind that your diet contributes to 80% of your weight loss while exercise is 20%. Eating healthy and at the right time gives you a boost in your journey.

With countless diets promoted on the internet, it is hard to choose which one is the most suitable, efficient, and practical. Some diets aim to curb your appetite to reduce your food intake, while others suggest restricting your intake of calories and either carbs or fat.

1. Plant-based diets

The most well-known versions of the plant-based diet are veganism and vegetarianism. In this diet, animal products are restricted like meat (or like in veganism, even dairy products). People follow these diets strictly for years but there are more flexible plant-based diets that allow you to eat meat but at a moderate level.

To start a plant-based diet, it is best if you ease yourself to the lifestyle instead of going cold turkey. You can start with a flexible plant-based diet where your intake of meat is less (like once or twice a week) and when used to the lifestyle, you can switch to vegetarianism. Plant-based diets are known to reduce the risk of chronic conditions, diabetes, and certain cancers.

2. Intermittent fasting

This method is familiar to many as Muslims have to fast for a month (during Ramadan). For those who don’t know, it is when you follow cycles between periods of fasting and eating. Intermittent fasting can help in improving your metabolism by increasing fat burning while preserving muscle mass.

There are several forms of intermittent fasting like the 5:2, which consists of restricting your calorie intake to 500 to 600 for two days a week or the 16/8 method we are more familiar with. This involves restraining from eating and drinking for 16 hours and eating in 8 hours. This method is efficient if you do not eat too much during the period where you can eat.

However, this diet is not for people who have sensitive blood pressure or other issues like diabetes.

3. Low carb diets

These diets are very popular for weight loss. A few forms of this diet are the Atkins diet, Ketogenic/keto diet, and so on.

The diet involves high protein intake, as protein can help curb your appetite, increase your metabolism, and conserve your muscle mass. Low carb diets can reduce the risk of heart diseases. These diets keep you energized throughout the day and help you in burning fat unlike high carb/low-calorie diets, that usually store fat and burn sugar.
